What Is the Puzzle Page Codeword?
The Codeword is a cipher crossword in the Puzzle Page app. Instead of clues, every cell shows a number from 1 to 26. Each number stands for a unique letter of the alphabet — same number, same letter, everywhere it appears in the grid. The puzzle gives you two or three starter letters to seed the cipher, and from there you deduce the rest by spotting common letter patterns, plausible words, and crossings.
Our Codeword solution pages show the fully decoded grid — every cell with its correct letter in place. Below the grid you'll find a quick analysis of which letters appear and how often, useful for verifying your own progress.
How to Read Our Codeword Solutions
- The grid is shown in its solved state, with each cell containing its final letter.
- Empty space between cells corresponds to black/blocked positions in the original puzzle.
- The alphabet usage panel below the grid shows how many times each letter appears in the solution — useful when checking the rare letters that come up only once or twice.
Strategy Tips for Faster Solving
- Start with the seed letters. Every Codeword gives you a few free letters to bootstrap the cipher.
- Look at letter frequency. The number that appears most often is very likely
E,T,A, orO— the most common letters in English. - Use trigram patterns. If you see a 3-letter sequence with a vowel sandwiched (like
_ATorTHE), that constrains the missing letter to just a few options. - Q is almost always followed by U. If you spot a number sequence where one number is rare and almost always followed by the same partner, that's likely a Q-U pair.
