What Is Picture Cross?
Picture Cross is the classic nonogram puzzle in the Puzzle Page app. You're given a blank grid with number clues along the top and left edges. The numbers tell you the lengths of consecutive filled cells in each column and row. By cross-referencing the clues, you fill in the right squares — and a hidden picture gradually appears.
Every daily Picture Cross has a theme — the picture might be a tree surgeon, a lighthouse, a hot air balloon, a chef, or any of hundreds of subjects. The puzzle is fully solvable from the numerical clues alone; the image is the reward.
How to Read Our Picture Cross Solutions
- Solid black cells are filled squares — they form the picture.
- White cells with a small ‘x’ are cells you've confirmed are NOT filled. The x marks are the standard Puzzle Page solving notation.
- The puzzle title above each grid is the name of the picture — helpful if you got stuck before finishing.
Strategy Tips for Faster Solving
- Start with overlap math. If a row has a clue equal to or larger than half the row length, the middle cells must be filled regardless of where the run starts.
- Mark certain empties with x. Every time you eliminate a cell, marking it with an x prevents confusion later.
- Work edges first. A clue of N at the start of a row means the first N cells are filled (if no other clue precedes it).
- Use both axes together. A confirmed filled cell in row 3 also gives you new info about column N — always re-check the perpendicular clues.
